Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has signed a decree on the early
resignation of Moscow's mayor, the Kremlin’s press-service reports.
The decree comes into force on the day of signing, RIA Novosti
reports.
The decree says that Luzhkov was dismissed due to loss of confidence
in him. The first Vice-Mayor of Moscow, Vladimir Resin, will replace
Luzhkov.
Dmitry Medvedev does not plan to meet the former mayor in the near future.
Yuri Luzhkov has been the mayor of Moscow for 18 years.
