Health insurance to become compulsory for labour migrants in Russia

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed the law making health insurance compulsory for labour migrants. Employers are obliged to fire workers whose health insurance, labour permit or patent and residency permit expire. Such workers will get dismissal wages worth a two-week salary, TASS reports.The Russian Labour Ministry expects that the new rules would help legalize the market of foreign labour and protect labour migrants. According to the ministry, Russia has about 3.5 million foreign workers.
