Russia to start building nuclear power plant in Turkey in March 2015

Turkish Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said that the Akkuyu nuclear power plant construction in Turkey will start in March 2015. A tender for construction of part of the nuclear power plant will be declared in a month, RIA Novosti reports.

The minister called the environmental impact assessment approved on the day of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Turkey a friendly gesture to Russia. The assessment contains 3,700 pages that leave no doubts about the construction.

Russian company Akkuyu Nuclear will get a license for power generation, then a license for the construction.
