Faed Mustafa, the Ambassador of Palestine to Russia, states that Palestine won’t recognize Israel as a Jewish state, as it had already recognized it more than 20 years ago.
According to the ambassador, in 1993 Palestine and Israel exchanged letters on mutual recognition: the series of messages was signed by Israeli Prime minister Yitzhak Rabin and the head of the Organization for Liberation of Palestine Yasser Arafat. Palestine recognized Israel within the borders which existed before the six-day war of 1967.
“Why should we recognize them twice? We are not obliged to recognize any new title of their state. We have already recognized Israel. It was in 1993. And we don’t intend to return to the issue,” RIA Novosti cites the diplomat.
