Today on the website of the joint stock company "Georgian Railway" a statement was published saying that, as a result of negotiations with the striking workers, an agreement had been reached that "reflects the requirements of railroad workers," including a Christmas bonus, a salary increase, freezing of the currently-existing salary during the establishment of a new wage system, definitions of additions to the salary according to seniority and merit, and compensation for extracurricular work.
However, the strikers themselves do not consider that the situation has been successfully resolved. On the contrary, in their opinion the negotiations did not lead to any result. Moreover, the railway administration is accused of rigging the outcome of the negotiations.
"No agreement has been reached. The Railroad presented its position and stated that it was the final one. But later it turned out that the document had been replaced. There is some provocative trick in this. The site (Georgian Railways - VK) published a completely different document. We were speaking of other things," News-Georgia quoted the words of the chairman of the trade union, Vitaly Giorgadze.
"These are not the guarantees that we require. We demand that the new system will not cause low wages, neither after certification, nor before its implementation. We are trying to negotiate, but they remain in their positions," Giorgadze said.
