Azerbaijani Defense Industry Ministry has reached an agreement on
cooperation with foreign companies. South Africa hosted a defense
industry exhibition, at which Azerbaijani Defense Industry Minister
Yaver Jamalov met the Deputy Defense Minister of the South Africa,
Fezil Bkhinglu, and the heads of delegations from Belarus, Turkey and
India participating in the exhibition, Trend reports.
Azerbaijani defense industry products were presented at "AAD-Afrika
Aerospace Defense-2010" in Cape Town on September 21-25.
Azerbaijan presented 67 defense products, including small firearms,
various kinds of ammunition, mortars, missiles, printing plates used
in the electronics industry and other products. "Matador" and
"Marauder" armoured vehicles produced by Azerbaijan and South Africa
were also presented.
323 companies from 36 countries presented their products, including
the USA, China, Turkey and South Africa. 12.7 mm and 14.5 mm
"Istiqlal" sniper rifles were of special interest. They were also
presented at the IDEF-2009 exhibition in Turkey and SOFEX-2010 in
Jordan.
On the last day the exhibition allowed civilians to visit the exhibition.
