French President Francois Hollande is starting his two-day visit to Kazakhstan, his first visit to Astana. Hollande will meet with his Kazakhstani counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev and discuss investments and energy cooperation, development of science and cultural ties. The French leader is accompanied by heads of 50 French companies, TASS reports.Kazakhstan is the primary partner of France in Central Asia. Trade turnover between the two states reached $6 billion euros. The main exports from Kazakhstan to France are energy resources. France exports transportation equipment, agricultural machinery and pharmaceutical products to Kazakhstan. France wants to double exports to Kazakhstan in five years.France is one of the top three Western investors in Kazakhstan, it has already invested about 9 billion euros. Paris encourages Kazakhstan to join the WTO.Rectors of two dozens of French universities are part of Hollande’s delegation. They will take part in a joint university forum. France and Kazakhstan plan to sign an agreement on mutual recognition of degrees and protocols on cooperation between higher education centers.
