Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at a press conference after negotiations with his French counterpart Francois Hollande in Astana that protection of human rights in Kazakhstan was better than in some European countries, RIA Novosti reports.

He clarified that 100 ethnicities and nations lived in Kazakhstan. Their rights, languages and cultures were under protection. Kazakhstan has school teaching in 18 languages. 40 religions are free in Kazakhstan. Mosques, synagogues, churches and other religious centers have been built.

Nazarbayev emphasized that were no problems with censorship and political persecution. He admitted that the country was also trying to preserve its own identity, News Kazakhstan reports.
