Muslims must unite to fight extremism, Iranian official says

A senior Iranian official says Muslim nations must reinforce their unity to counter extremist movements, particularly the ISIL Takfiri group, Press TV reports.

Muslim nations are currently facing two “parallel dangers of the Zionist regime [of Israel] and Takfiri movements which are in fact two sides of the same coin,” said Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Saturday.

“Confrontation with these two dangers, particularly with extremist movements of ISIL both in Iraq and Syria and the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine as well as measures to Judaize the occupied Palestinian territories requires unity and vigilance on the part of the Muslim ummah,” Amir-Abdollahian added.

The Iranian official warned that extremist and Takfiri movements have targeted the unity of Shia and Sunni Muslims.
