Doha (Qatar) is hosting the 16th ministerial Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) today. Its attendees will discuss development of international gas markets and present reports about progress of the Executive Council and the Secretariat of the Forum, Trend reports.The GECF was founded in Tehran in 2001. It consists of Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela. Kazakhstan, Norway and the Netherlands are the observers at the Forum.The member-states of the GECF own over 70% of world gas reserves and 38% of gas pipelines, they extract 42% of world gas.
