The Russian Federal Migration Service will continue fighting illegal
labor migration by punishing employers and employees, the head of the
service said, Trend reports.
He said that there are no problems with legal migrants from CIS, which
equal to 2% of the Russian population. But there are approximately 4
million illegal workers.
Konstantine Romodanovskiy said that they had introduced migration
registration procedures, which begin from the moment of border
crossing. A notification mechanism was also introduced.
On May 20 Russian President Dmitry Medvedev approved amendments, which
create attractive conditions for high-skilled foreign specialists in
Russia. The amendments and the visa-free regime led to only 3,000
Azerbaijani citizens purchasing patents for work.
Romodanovskiy is taking part in a meeting of migration structures of
CIS countries in Azerbaijan today. He plans to discuss migration
issues in Azerbaijan.
