Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili thanked the European Parliament (EP) for the ratification of the Association Agreement of the European Union with Georgia. Ratification of the document, he said, is "an expression of confidence in Georgia and its institutions."
"In recent years we have put in so much effort to carry out democratic reforms, which led to our success," Garibashvili is quoted by TASS.
The Prime Minister said that "today Georgia is an example of successful European partnership." He stressed that the Georgian authorities were determined to carry out an association agreement with the EU quickly and in full, so that the country "is fully imbued with European standards." "Georgia is a country of stable democracy, an economy that has the appropriate skills," as well as contributing to the cause of international security, the prime minister said.
Today in Strasbourg during a session EP deputies ratified the Association Agreement between Georgia and the EU, which was signed on 27 June this year. 490 deputies voted "for" the ratification of the document, 76 spoke "against", 57 - abstained.
