Matvienko has warned South Ossetia to cooperate with a number of NPOs

Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko at a meeting with Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Anatoly Biblovym said that Russia will continue to contribute to national and international recognition of South Ossetia.

"We continue to contribute to the national and international recognition of South Ossetia," the Russian senator said, noting that "this process is complicated and it is not as fast as we would like." "Clearly, this has political and other reasons, but this does not exclude the possibility of calling on various countries on bilateral relations, trade and economic and humanitarian spheres," she said, expressing confidence that "the time will come when the realization will dawn that there is no way back, and South Ossetia is a sovereign state, a full member of the international community," Tass reports.

Matvienko also appealed to the Speaker of the South Ossetian parliament to pay attention to non-profit organizations which are financed from abroad. "We have information that a number of countries, which are not only interested in economic and humanitarian cooperation, are beginning to show an interest in South Ossetia," the Speaker of the Federation Council warned her colleague.

She stressed that these countries, "fueling economically non-profit organizations, are trying to build relations with Georgia, calling for the reintegration of South Ossetia into Georgia." "We must keep an eye on it," the chairman of the Federation Council told the Head of the South Ossetian parliament. She said that among the NPOs there are those interested in the development of South Ossetia, as well as those who are trying to destabilize the situation in the country.
