Russia was forced to cancel South Stream, Vice-Speaker of the State Duma says

The Russian authorities, as well as the Serbian ones, regret the cancellation of the "South Stream" project. This statement was made by the Vice-Speaker of the State Duma, the head of the "United Russia" faction Vladimir Vasilyev today at a meeting of State Duma deputies with the chairman of the National Assembly of Serbia, Maja Gojkovic.

"We also regret that South Stream will not work in the near future – it really was a great opportunity for you, Bulgaria, a number of other countries, for us as well," Interfax quotes the vice-speaker.

In addition, Vasiliev paid particular attention to the fact that Russia was forced to take this step and that it continues to be a reliable partner of Serbia.
