CSTO Council starts session in Kremlin

The CSTO Collective Security Council has started a session at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow. It is being attended by Presidents Vladimir Putin (Russia), Alexander Lukashenko (Belarus), Almazbek Atambayev (Kyrgyzstan), Nursultan Nazarbayev (Kazakhstan), Emomali Rakhmon (Tajikistan) and Serzh Sargsyan (Armenia) and CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha, TASS reports.

Putin’s Aide Yuri Ushakov said that the sides planned to discuss crisis management in global and regional security challenges, realization of the CSTO decision to help Tajikistan enforce the Tajik-Afghan border, check the readiness of the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces, improvement of the collective security system and the priorities of Tajikistan's chairmanship in 2015.

Afghanistan will be given special attention. CSTO states want Afghanistan to become a prosperous state and support the coordinating role of the UN in settling the Afghan process.

22 declarations of the heads of state, 19 decisions and 2 protocols will be signed.
