President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and former president of the state Robert Kocharyan discussed the candidacy of Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan for the presidency in 2018.
Sargsyan told Kocharyan of the high probability of Ohanyan becoming the candidate of the current authorities, regardless of changes to the constitution, Trend reports with reference to Epress.
According to Kocharyan, Ohanyan's candidacy is actually acceptable to him, but at the same time Kocharyan failed to promise that he himself will not run for the presidency in 2018.
"The fact is that if the "Prosperous Armenia Party" and its leader Gagik Tsarukyan will support Kocharyan, he is going to run for the presidency. But if the PAP nominates its leader Gagik Tsarukyan, then Kocharyan will support Ohanyan," the publication says.
