Azerbaijani lawmakers plan to reduce the first terms of office for judges from 5 to 3 years. The age limit for judges of the Supreme Court will be increased from 65 to 68 years, the age for other judges will be limited to 66 years, Trend reports.
Judges of courts of appeal, grave criminal cases and the chief judge for grave crimes in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Region will be appointed based on recommendations of the Judicial and Legal Council, not point 32 of article 109 of the Constitution.
