Yerevan is hosting the 5th Caucasian international science and
practical conference for problems of security and information
cooperation in the South Caucasus. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan
believes that the forum it is the first step to opening a discussion
of the issues, News Armenia reports.
The conference is a special media project of RIA Novosti. It has been
held in Yerevan annually since 2006. This year it is held in
assistance with the administration of Armenian president.
The president urged participants of the conference to pay special
attention to the escalation of aggression and xenophobia.
Sargsyan noted that Armenia puts efforts into the realization of
complex projects based on regional approaches and mutually beneficial
cooperation and not instant maneuvers inspired by confrontation.
The president said that the complicated ethical dilemma is one of the
most difficult challenges in the age of globalization, especially for
unstable regions.
Among the participants of the conference are the president of the
National Energy Security Fund Constantine Simonov, director of
European and Asian programs of the US Global Security Institute
Nikolay Zlobin, head of Efficient Policy Fund Kirill Tanayev,
executive director of the International Humanitarian Cooperation Fund
Petr Gladkov, head of RIA Novosti department for CIS and Baltic
countries Alan Kasayev, popular TV commentators Leonid Mlechin and
Alexander Gurnov, authoritative Georgian experts Giya Meparishvili,
Alexander Rusetskiy.
Well-known Armenian experts and lawmakers will also take part in the conference.
The conference schedule involves an exchange of opinions, round
tables, press-conferences, master-classes of specialists in
information policy for students of journalists and political science
departments of Armenian universities.
Tomorrow Yerevan and Moscow will hold a video conference on the topic
of the new level of ties between Armenia and Russia.
