At the next stage of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue, the topic of the opening of an American embassy in Iran and an Iranian Embassy in the United States will not be discussed. This statement was made today by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afham.
"The issue of opening embassies in Iran and the US is not on the agenda," Afham is quoted by RIA Novosti.
The representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry clarified that at the moment the prospect of raising this issue is "limited by the aspiration of the parties to reach a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear program."
Yesterday US President Barack Obama said that a US diplomatic mission may be opened in Tehran. He added that the situation with Iran differs from the situation with Cuba, where America also intends to open an embassy, as far as Iran "sponsors terrorists" and "conducts nuclear development."
