On January 3 Armenian armed forces heavily shelled positions of the Azerbaijani Army and frontline settlements with heavy guns, anti-tank grenade launchers and 60- and 82-millimeter mortars, the press service of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan says.
"The Ministry of Defence contends that the shelling of villages and civilians has forced the Azerbaijani side, using all its military capabilities, to take appropriate and strict measures. This will be the reason that the Armenian armed forces will suffer even more heavy losses, and the responsibility will be fully on the Armenian leadership," the defense ministry is quoted by Interfax-Azerbaijan.
