UN Security Council may consider resolution on Palestine next week

The UN Security Council has updated the draft of the resolution on Palestine, the previous version of which was rejected at the end of December last year, and it may be presented next week, said the Permanent Representative of Chile to the world organization Christian Barros Melet, who serves as the chairman of the Security Council in January.

On December 30 the Security Council did not accept the draft resolution on the terms of a Palestinian state and an end to the Israeli occupation. The document did not receive the required majority support of 9 of the 15 member countries of the Security Council. In addition, the United States, having the right of veto, voted against it.
