Representatives of the Iranian Air Forces have reported that Iran has started mass production of domestic jet fighters which demonstrated their efficiency in military tasks. The fighter is called Saega (Lightning).
The first squadron of the fighters began service in the Iranian army in 2010. In September 2011 it participated in wide-scale maneuvers of Iranian Armed Forces in the northwest of the country.
According to the commander of the Iranian Air Forces, Hassan Shakh Safi, “at the moment all efforts by Iranian aviation engineers and constructors are focused on development and production of modern jet fighters, as future wars will be won in the air.”
