The head of the government of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, has met with the European Union's foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini today in Latvia.
The main theme of the meeting was liberalization of the visa regime between Georgia and the EU. "As the Prime Minister said, Georgia will spare no effort to ensure that Europe takes relevant steps to approve the issue of visa liberalization. The EU High Representative expressed her hope that after the successful implementation of relevant procedures, Georgia will emerge as a success story at the Riga Summit," News-Georgia cited Garibashvili's press service.
Tbilisi hopes that a final decision on a visa-free regime between Georgia and the EU will be made at the summit of the "Eastern Partnership", which is scheduled for May 2015 and will be held in Riga. In addition, Garibashvili invited Mogherini to come to Georgia.
