The Armenian mass media sum up results of 2014, analyzing the internal political and economic situation in the country. “We can say that in 2014 the second major polar of the political force – the opposition trio – was formed in Armenia. It is able to balance Serge Sargsyan and the ruling Republican Party. In 2014 it was the most important change in the political field. It should be noted that the trio plays a role of the guarantor of the Constitution under the current conditions,” the information website 7or.am reports.
The information portal 1in.am writes: “The Prime Minister Ovik Abramyan, speaking about drawbacks in the government’s work, stated that they couldn’t provide citizens with prospering living. It was easy for Ovik Abramyan made such a statement, as he took the Premier’s position only for 7 months and could easily refer to the former government. He said that accumulated problems cannot be solved immediately, and it needed take time. However, the fact is that citizens of Armenia have been listening to similar statements for 20 years.”
The electronic periodical lragir.am writes: “Members of the government and other representatives of power visit military units near the front line, meet soldiers, talk to them, smile, and even put on military uniform ahead of the New Year Eve. It seems to be a good step, but representatives of power take photos and seek publicity, and then they return to Yerevan to celebrate the New Year Eve in peace, while for a year soldiers and residents of near-border villages have been staying alone…”
Zhamanak reports on the yesterday’s tragedy in Gyumri: “There are questions on investigation of the case, considering the interest of Russian officials to the incident, as they connected with their colleagues in Armenia themselves. The question is how objectively and independently investigation of the crime will be, and whether Russian structures will provide a full support to the Armenian side on investigation of the crime. Soon we will find out; however, considering some Armenian and Armenian-Russian precedents, we can say that many questions will remain answerless for the society.”
Graparak Newspaper reports that the Heritage Party will participate in a conference which is organized by Gagik Tsarukyan on January 20 th . The chairman of the party Armen Martirosyan says that he and Rubik Akopyan will take part in the conference. Speaking about participation of Raffi Ovannisyan, he said: “Apparently, Mr. Ovannisyan won’t participate in it.”
