Davutoglu issues ultimatum to Italian prime minister

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has demanded clarification from his Italian colleague Matteo Renzi in connection with his recent statements on the participation of the head of the Turkish government in the march in Paris a week ago.

On Friday the Italian prime minister said in an interview that Davutoğlu's presence at last week's Paris rally was inappropriate because of Erdogan's order to jail journalists and close media.

"Davutoglu arrived in France to defend freedom of the press rather than do it at home."

"Renzi's statement is unacceptable and I demand an explanation from him. We have already expressed protest to Italy. If an explanation doesn't come, Turkey will strongly respond at international platforms," RIA Novosti cites Davutoglu.
