The head of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs, Alexei Pushkov, commented on changes in the attitude of Europeans to the results of the Second World War on his Twitter account, stressing that the roots of these changes are hidden in American propaganda.
"In May 1945, 57% of the French population thought that the Soviet Union played main role in defeating Hitler, and only 20% thought it was the USA. In May 2004 they thought just the opposite: 58% - the US, 20% - the Soviet Union. We are told that the USSR had propaganda, and the West had "freedom of speech". In fact, there is Pro-American freedom of speech - the same propaganda," Pushkov said on Twitter.
