Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has emphasized the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line at a discussion within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, News Georgia reports.
Garibashvili described the outlook of the Georgian authorities on new trade and economic routes at a discussion on border economic regions of Europe. He said that the economic, political and cultural interdependence of border regions of Europe was growing every day. Intensification of communication routes on vast territories has a decisive impact on the sustainable development of Eurasia, he stated. The Eurasian Region needs fast, economical and reliable routes for transportation of products from China to Europe. In Garibashvili’s words, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway would be especially topical in the context. The project establishes a direct route between Turkey and Georgia.
