Kiev is not going to resolve the conflict in the Donbas region in a peaceful manner and took advantage of the ceasefire to regroup its forces. This was announced today by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with students of the National University of Mineral Resources "Mountain" in St. Petersburg.
"Unfortunately, the official Kiev authorities refuse to follow the path of a peaceful settlement, do not want to solve it by political means. First the law enforcement agencies have been used, then the security service, then the army," the news agency RIA Novosti quotes the words of the president.
Putin recalled that the Ukrainian authorities stopped their offensive after being rebuffed. "And they used the peaceful respite, unfortunately, only to regroup, and again started firing. Thousands of people have already died. This, of course, is the real tragedy," the president said.
