The ruble fell sharply on the Moscow stock exchange after the growth observed last week.
As of 18:53 Moscow time, the dollar increased by 1.98 rubles and now stands at 66.22 rubles.
The euro rose 2.39 rubles and reached 74.49 rubles.
Today's changes may have been caused by the expectation of possible sanctions against Russia in connection with the deteriorating situation in the east of Ukraine.
