Slovenia plans to open its embassy in Baku by mid-2016, Slovenian Ambassador to Azerbaijan (with residence in Ankara) Milan Jazbec said.
The diplomat called the appointment of Honorary Consul of Slovenia in Azerbaijan Elnur Allahverdiyev last year a big step in the relations between the two countries.
"The opening of the embassy with one diplomat and an ambassador in Ankara will be the next major step. We are working on this issue," Jazbec noted.
He said that the parties have common views on international issues.
“Political dialogue is very important. But one more purpose of political dialogue is to expand economic cooperation between the two countries. We try so that every political visit would have an economic character as well. The latest figure of turnover is $15 million, but this is not enough. We are trying to increase this figure,” Trend cited Jazbec as saying.
