US Central Command reported yesterday that as a result of coalition air strikes on Saturday, Jan. 24, the chemical weapons expert Abu Malik, who worked for the terrorist group Islamic State (IS), and before that for Al Qaeda, has been killed in Iraq.
The airstrike was carried out near the city of Mosul. The eliminated expert engineer had worked at a plant for the production of chemical weapons under Saddam Hussein. In 2005, Abu Malik was recruited by al-Qaeda, and then by Islamic State.
"His death will reduce the chances of the IS to produce and use chemical weapons against civilians," TASS cites the message of the US Central Command Post.
