Chizhov says sooner or later EU will recognize Crimea as Russian

Russia's permanent representative to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, said that the European Union would sooner or later recognize Crimea as a Russian territory.

"Sooner or later, I'm sure the EU will come to the realization that the fate of Crimea is forever and inextricably linked with Russia," he stressed.

According to him, it is quite wrong to talk about the return of Crimea to Russia as an illegal annexation. Talking about whether Moscow would change its attitude to Crimea due to sanctions pressure, the diplomat said that "this will not happen."

"The result of the events in Crimea was the final link in a chain of events that is quite consistent with international law, including the right to self-determination, enshrined in the Helsinki Final Act of the OSCE, and, of course, in the UN Charter," RIA Novosti quotes the words of Chizhov.
