Former deputy chief of Georgian Navy detained by Interpol

The former deputy chief of the Georgian Navy, Victor Chelidze, has been detained by Interpol in Belgium.

 

He was extradited to Georgia on January 31, the Georgian branch of Interpol reported today. 

 

Chelidze served as the deputy commander of Georgian naval forces stationed in Poti in 2000-2005.

 

He was charged with abuse of power, misappropriation of state property and embezzlement in Georgia, and was listed as wanted by Interpol, Trend reports.
