Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has congratulated Alexis Tsipras on the victory of the coalition led by him in the parliamentary elections in Greece and the election to the post of prime minister.
"I congratulate you on the victory of your coalition in the parliamentary elections and on your election as the prime minister of Greece," the message posted on the website of the President said.
Ilham Aliyev expressed hope of strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries and peoples and the successful continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation.
"I believe that we will make joint efforts to expand Azerbaijani-Greek ties and further strengthen friendly relations between our peoples, as well as develop cooperation of mutual concern," the text states.
