Nagorno-Karabakh is part of the territory of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenians; and Kashmir is a controversial area claimed by India, which denies the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, given by the UN Security Council resolutions, Pakistan’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Khalid Usman Qaiser said at an event held at the embassy of Pakistan in Baku today.
The event was dedicated to Kashmir Solidarity Day, which is celebrated on February 5.
Azerbaijan and Pakistan stand for resolving the conflicts peacefully. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict threatens regional security, Qaiser noted.
Accoding to him, the similarity of the two conflicts is that the UN Security Council resolutions are not fulfilled regarding these conflicts, principles of international law are violated, people are resettled, religious monuments are desecrated, cultural heritage is destroyed, the ceasefire is violated, attempts are made to change the demographic structure of the occupied territories, Trend reports.
Qaiser stressed that Pakistan has always supported and will continue supporting Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.
