U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko today that neither the U.S. nor the EU wanted any conflicts with Russia. Kerry emphasized that the U.S. was committed to a diplomatic settlement of the crisis in Donbas and could not ignore Russia’s support for one of the sides of the armed conflict in Ukraine.
The diplomat called for an immediate ceasefire and urged Russia to persuade the militias in Donetsk and Luhansk to comply with it. Kerry promised that the international isolation of Russia would end as soon as the crisis is settled peacefully in Ukraine.
