"The North Caucasus region should become an important part of the market import substitution, and the ministry is ready to take on coordination functions to implement the orders of the government of the Russian Federation of 27 January 2015 on the plan of priority measures to ensure sustainable economic development and social stability in 2015 in the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District," the Minister for North Caucasus Affairs Lev Kuznetsov said.

At a meeting of the working group it was also noted that today Russia feels the need for import-substituting products worth hundreds of billions of rubles. In this case, the North Caucasus region should become an important part of the market of import substitution. The potential is great: according to the Ministry for North Caucasus Affairs, the projects which have already been implemented will create up to 10 thousand additional jobs in the industry and about 2.5 thousand jobs in the agricultural sector, as well as new jobs in related industries and small businesses.

"Today, we need to form a "road map" of existing successful projects, to take into account our ability and competence, to fix the resource requirements of the federal agenda," Lev Kuznetsov noted, recalling that in the regions of the North Caucasus there are successful enterprises, which can start production of import-substituting nomenclature if we will organize the cooperative processes properly. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is already actively working in this direction."Lev Kuznetsov also drew attention to the usefulness of pre-protection proposals from the NCFD subjects and developing a unified list of priority industries for approval at the site of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Ministry of Industry and Trade together with the Minister of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasus were instructed to organize the review and approval of received from the executive bodies of subjects of the Russian Federation-members of the NCFD, lists of priority and critical products, as well as a list of priority enterprises and 'anchor' investment projects in the NCFD during February 2015.The Minister for North Caucasus Affairs Lev Kuznetsov said in an exclusive interview with Vestnik Kavkaza that the North Caucasus Federal District has great potential in terms of climatic conditions, and in terms of already-existing technologies."Today, the one of the key priorities for the region is to revive industry.
