Head of Turkey's intelligence service resigns

Hasan Fidan, the head of Turkey's intelligence service, has resigned in order to participate in the parliamentary elections in June.

Fidan was appointed as the head of Turkey's National Intelligence Agency on 25 May, 2010.

Representations of 31 political parties will run in the parliamentary elections in Turkey. According to Turkish legislation, those who intend to participate in the parliamentary elections must leave their former posts before 10 February.
