Georgia invited to NATO summit
Georgia received an invitation to a November summit of NATO, Georgia
News reports, quoting Manana Manjgaladze, the press-spokesman of the
Georgian president. Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the NATO Secretary-General,
was on an official visit to Georgia on 30th of September. Rasmussen
declared in Tbilisi that the Alliance has not changed its position
regarding its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of
Georgia, remains faithful to the Bucharest Summit’s decisions and
expects to secure its position at the Lisbon summit.
The Lisbon summit of the Alliance will take place on November 19-20.
Rasmussen reported earlier that the summit's participants will have to
endorse a new strategic concept for NATO, which is in the process of
development by a "group of wise men" under the leadership of Madeleine
Albright.
