Azerbaijani President Ilkham Aliyev has visited the Nakhichivan
autonomy. He visited social facilities, a hydro electric plant and the
strategic road Nakhichivan-Sadarak, AzerTag reports.
The Nakhichivan-Sadarak road is the only land connection between
Azerbaijan and Turkey, its construction started in March 2008. The
four line road will be 82 km long and 23 m wide, the pavement will be
17.2 m wide. It is part of the Great Silkroad and connects the
Kengerlin, Sharur and Sadarak regions of the republic.
Ilkham Aliyev opened new school buildings in the Makhta and Yengidzha
villages in the Sharur region. The Makhta school has two computer
classrooms with 19 computers and Internet access. The school in
Yengidzha allows 568 pupils to study. Its library has approximately
8,000 books and a section of the room devoted to Heydar Aliyev. Each
computer class has 19 computers and Internet access.
Azerbaijani president opened the new Bilyav hydro electric plant in
Ordubad region. The power plant uses Gilanchay river and an artificial
lake covering 5.15 ha. The dam is 159 m wide and its height varies
from 7.3 to 9.5 m. The lake holds 250 000 cubic m of water. The power
plant produces 20 megawatts of energy, its maximum productivity is 22
megawatts.
Aliyev opened a regional information center for people with limited
physical abilities. The center teaches information technologies. The
center was created according to a project realized by Heydar Aliyev
Fund, Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies and the
development program of UN.
