Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during his visit to the Cuba that the US sanctions against Havana were not right in the sense of conscience.
"We do not find the sanctions against Cuba to be right, either in terms of humanity or conscience," the Anadolu agency cited him as saying. E
rdogan said the trade volume of $28 million with Cuba is a low figure, which was a result of the sanctions. He also said Turkish Airlines is ready to launch flights between Havana and Istanbul. "I believe a much more positive process will develop with Latin countries following the flights," Erdogan said.
Turkey seeks to build an Ottoman-style mosque in Cuba's capital on its own as soon as a deal is settled between the officials. However, Cuban officials had already made an agreement with Saudi Arabia for a mosque construction in Havana.
