Serbia intends to offer Azerbaijan new projects for cooperation

Serbia is preparing to offer Azerbaijani companies new infrastructure projects, and it is also interested in cooperation in the field of agriculture.

The Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic is going to discuss all these issues during a forthcoming visit to Azerbaijan, which is tentatively scheduled for late February - early March.

It is also planned to hold an Azerbaijani-Serbian business forum in Baku. Preparation issues for the visit were discussed recently at a meeting between the prime minister of Serbia and the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Serbia, Eldar Hasanov.

The Serbian prime minister expressed his satisfaction with the activity of Azerbaijani companies operating in the country. Serbia and Azerbaijan are working closely in projects on construction of infrastructure facilities. The construction of a motorway in Serbia, in which the Azerbaijani company AzVirt is the general contractor, is the largest of these projects. Potential Azerbaijani investors were also presented projects to create free trade zones in the cities of Cacak and Kraljevo, and several other projects, Trend reports.

Trade turnover between the two countries in 2014 amounted to $3.836 million, according to the State Statistics Committee. Serbia exports agricultural products, equipment and pumps for the oil and gas industry, as well as furniture and building materials to Azerbaijan.
