There are enough extremist organizations in the modern world, one must fight with them, and Russia will do so consistently, the president of Russia Vladimir Putin claimed at a meeting with representatives of veterans' organizations, which took place on February 15.
"The genie is out of the bottle, one can do nothing with this, one must fight this, and we will do so, we will do so consistently," RIA Novosti quotes Putin.
According to the president, in Afghanistan Russia faced the phenomenon that today is called 'political Islam'.
"Unfortunately, life is very complicated, and very often one comes across its difficult, if not brutal manifestations - and one has to fight for his/her interests," the president stated.
