It is necessary to start work on a great peace agreement on a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said today.
The minister made the remarks during a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Baku.
According to the Minister, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have already understood that it is time to start work on a great peace agreement. “There shouldn’t be Armenian soldiers in Lachin or Kalbajar. It is necessary to start serious negotiations on restoring peace in the region,” Trend cited Mammadyarov.
“Armenia should withdraw its troops from Azerbaijani territories,” he said. Mammadyarov also said that the two Azerbaijanis taken hostage by Armenians in Kalbajar should be handed over to Azerbaijan. “Azerbaijan has raised this issue in all international organizations,” he explained.
