Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, at a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Mackay, said he expects to enhance Belarusian-Iranian relations, and the visit of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the Islamic Republic can serve this.
"We hope that there will be a visit of the President of Belarus to Iran in the near future, it would be a good ground for bilateral cooperation" TASS cited him. In his opinion, there has always been an understanding and partnership in the international arena between the two countries. The minister said that they will continue to support each other in the future. The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that Tehran and Minsk have close economic and political ties, and its potential is far from exhausted.
For his part, Mackay said that trade between the countries has increased significantly, but the potential for trade and economic relations is not being fully exploited. "Our goal is to identify measures that will give greater momentum to our bilateral cooperation and make sure that it meets the level of political engagement," the head of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus said.
