North Ossetian ex-president wants 70th anniversary of WWII victory to become a symbol of consolidation

Alexander Dzasokhov, vice president of the Russian Council for International Affairs, an ex-president of North Ossetia, a diplomat, has visited Vestnik Kavkaza today. In a live interview of the Tribune broadcast, he spoke of the work of the Integration Club of the head of the Federation Council, relations of Russia with neighbouring states, Heydar Aliyev, Russia's position in Syria and the upcoming 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Alexander Dzasokhov emphasized that the upcoming round date was an important opportunity for celebrations in Russia and the uncovering of truths about WWII. He noted that false views on the role of other countries in the crushing of the Third Reich were common. The expert said that it was the USSR that had made the breakthrough in WWII. He doubts that any attempts to prove otherwise would have any chance of succeeding.

“We need to publicize all existing historical documents about the fate of every private, commander, guerilla, let’s give our young people the truth about the Great Patriotic War,” Dzasokhov urged.

The North Ossetian ex-president added that Caucasian nations played an important role in defending the Caucasus. German forces were trying to break into Vladikavkaz to use the Georgian Military Road going to Trans-Caucasus, make it to Grozny and the Chechen-Ingush ASSR to seize the oil reserves there.

“Azerbaijan did very much for our common victory in the Great Patriotic War,” the diplomat emphasized.

“Let the 70th anniversary become a stimulation for the unity of our peoples, so that the echo of the Victory would be heard all over our former great country and all over the world,” Dzasokhov concluded.
