The Turkish army has started a military operation to provide security for the tomb of Suleyman Shah, ancestor of the founders of the Ottoman Empire, which is located on the territory of Syria.
A significant group of tanks and other armored vehicles of the Turkish Armed Forces, as reported by the New York Times, crissed into Syrian territory in the border city of Cobán, which in January 2015 was taken by the forces of Kurdish insurgents from the militants of the extremist organization "Islamic State" (IS).
The convoy, according to the calculations of the military, must get to a place to pick up personnel located there, and then return to Turkey on Sunday evening. It is noted that use of direct military action against the IS as part of this operation is not implied. The operation by the Turkish forces was agreed on with Kurdish forces beforehand.
