Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting of chief diplomats of UNSC states in New York that the organization should regain its leading role and abandon double standards, Interfax reports.
In his words, the UN risks losing global control. The diplomat urged members of the UNSC to consolidate their positions. Lavrov reminded that a common position had helped find solutions to threats from terrorists. The minister added that the UNSC had passed Russia-initiated Resolution 2199 a few days ago. The document bans purchase of oil from terrorist groups.
