MPs of Dagestan have passed amendments to the law on local self-governance today, implementing the city manager’s post. The republic will hold municipal elections in 2016. The heads of administrations of municipal districts, city districts, city settlements and administrative district centers will be appointed according to contracts, Yuga.ru reports.
The new system will be implemented in Maikop and Adygeysk, Enem, Yablonovskoye, Tlyustenkhabl and 7 administrative district centers. The head of the Council of People’s Deputies will serve as a representative of the city mayor, the city manager will supervise the financial and the economic sector. A special commission formed by MPs and representatives of the regional leader will appoint city managers.
