Top U.S. firms call on Congress to reject resolution on Armenian genocide

The leading U.S. businesses in the aerospace sector and the defense industry have urged the United States Congress to vote against the approval of Resolution 252 “on the Armenian genocide” that will be discussed on March 4, Radio Liberty reports.

The companies have appealed to the Foreign Relations Committee in the House of Representatives of the United States Congress in a letter that said approval of the resolution could lead to the deterioration of relations between the United States and Turkey, and harm business interests.

The representatives of such companies as Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Raytheon emphasize in the letter that the value of exports to Turkey in 2009 exceeded 7 billion dollars. They add that in 2010 a similar result can be expected, but if the resolution is approved then tens of thousands people in the United States will lose their jobs.
